About Our Knowledge Resource Centre
The IMER Library is an invaluable resource for students, researchers, and faculty members in the field of business and management. Over the years, the library has built a robust collection of more than 25,000 books, along with 60 current subscriptions to serials, including journals, magazines, and newspapers. In addition, it houses valuable resources such as theses, students’ project reports, CDs/DVDs, and back volumes of journals.
Spread over an area of more than 477 sq. m., the library provides access to high-quality digital resources related to business and management through subscriptions to reputed databases such as EBSCO, J-Gate, and Capitaline, along with DVDs containing scholarly and industry-relevant content.
The library offers access to more than 18,700 online full-text journals, abstracts, and indexes, along with 52,000 company and industry profiles. All library functions and services are fully automated.
Within a short period, the college library has earned a commendable reputation. However, continuous efforts are being made to further strengthen its role in promoting quality education in the best interest of the user community.
The library has witnessed all-round development during the tenure of Dr. Arif Shaikh, the current Director, and Shri Uday Kalkundrikar, the current Chairman of the Institute. One of the most significant contributions of the Management towards library development is the construction of a separate library building with exclusive stack and reading rooms. Owing to the Management’s support, the library is well equipped with modern furniture such as cupboards, chairs, tables, computers, and accessories, along with an enriched reference collection of valuable books and bound volumes of journals.
Newly acquired books are displayed on the display stand and information about them is communicated through WhatsApp services. Management journals are also exhibited regularly to keep students updated on current developments. Important articles and reading materials related to management topics published in newspapers are highlighted through a newspaper clipping service. The library also provides the latest materials on General Knowledge for interested readers.
The library houses dictionaries, globes, and encyclopaedias to offer short-range reference services. Reading lists of authentic books on prescribed subjects are provided to students as needed. Literature search services are conducted to help locate relevant information, and readers are guided on reference works and the effective use of indexes. Such orientation programs are particularly beneficial for students participating in debates, seminars, and other co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Infrastructure Facilities:
The library building has a sprawling area of over 477 sq. mtrs., with well-designated sections such as a reading room, discussion area, digital library, archival/stack room, periodical section, and audio-visual section, which together create a pleasant and conducive ambience for reading and learning.
The library is equipped with two separate servers—one for databases and another for library management software. All databases are web-enabled and made accessible through the Institute’s LAN via the Digital Library. Each functional unit of the library is provided with a networked computer to ensure smooth information flow. In addition, a dedicated computer system is available within the library to facilitate information access for users.
The library also houses various learning resources and equipment such as CDs/DVDs, scanners, HP LaserJet printers, and colour printers.
The library uses EasyLib software, an integrated library management system, to automate key library functions such as book procurement and circulation. EasyLib also provides a web-enabled Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), accessible through the Institute’s LAN. The library further utilizes Barcode Technology for efficient circulation and resource management.
