Awareness Session on POSH Act 2013 and HIV/AIDS at KLS IMER
Belagavi, 11th March 2025: – KLS Institute of Management Education and Research (IMER) organized an awareness session on the POSH Act 2013 and HIV/AIDS. The session was conducted by Mrs. Safala Nagaratna R, Founder of Ashraya Foundation, Belagavi and was attended by more than 150 students and staff. The event was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of KLS IMER to create awareness about workplace safety and social sensitivity.
Mrs. Safala Nagaratna provided a detailed overview of the POSH Act 2013 (Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace-Act) and its legal provisions. She explained how awareness of the Act safeguards the dignity and safety rights of women at workplaces, including higher educational institutions. She emphasized the role of Internal Complaints Committees in handling complaints and ensuring a secure and respectful environment for all employees and students. The audience actively engaged with the session, gaining valuable insights into identifying and addressing instances of sexual harassment.
Mrs. Nagaratna also addressed the sensitive topic of HIV/AIDS. She dispelled common misconceptions about the disease and stressed the importance of educating society about the condition. She encouraged the audience to extend empathy and support to affected individuals, promoting a culture of inclusion and care. Her insightful talk inspired the participants to be more socially responsible and supportive.
Dr. Arif Shaikh, Director of KLS IMER welcomed the gathering. The session concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Shailaja Hiremath, Presiding Officer – ICC. The event was meticulously organized by a group of First Year MBA students as a part of their Community engagement Project demonstrating excellent coordination and attention to detail.
