A special Talk titled “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's Vision for Modern India: Contemporary Relevance” was successfully conducted today at the Institute of Management Education and Research (IMER), Belagavi.

The event was jointly organized by KLS IMER and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Study Chair, Rani Channamma University (RCU), Belagavi, in association with the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Training, Research and Extension Centre, Bangalore.

Dr. J. Somashekar, Senior Professor at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, University of Mysore, served as the Resource Person for the event. In his address, Dr. Somashekar delved deep into the enduring legacy of the father of the Indian Constitution. He highlighted how Dr. Ambedkar’s foresight regarding social justice, economic stability, and democratic values remains critically relevant in addressing the challenges of 2026. He urged the students and faculty to look beyond the historical persona of Dr. Ambedkar and adopt his scientific and rational approach to nation-building.

The event was presided over by Dr. Arif Shaikh, Director and Professor at IMER, Belagavi. In his presidential remarks, Dr. Shaikh emphasized the importance of academic institutions in keeping the dialogue on constitutional values alive among the youth.

Prof. Ashok D'Souza, Director, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Study Chair, RCU, Belagavi, who spoke about the initiatives of the Study Chair in promoting inclusive thoughts.

The lecture was attended by students and faculty members from IMER, who engaged in a vibrant interaction with the resource person following the talk.
